Rattler Family, Oct. 1-Dec. 19 is the Arkansas Applied Campaign for seniors. This is the time to encourage students to explore and learn more about their postsecondary options. During the month of October, Magazine High School will be having different activities to support and encourage our seniors, whether it be to Enlist in a military branch, Enroll in a two-year, four-year or certification program or seek immediate Employment after graduation. Diana Loyd, rootEd Adviser, advises seniors to have at least three options of a college, a career choice and military options. Leah Haugh is signing the "I Applied" banner that will be displayed in our hallway. Rattler Senior Parents, you are invited to attend a FASFA Application Night in the Magazine High School library on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided. This will be a come-and-go meeting so that you and your senior can complete the 2026-27 FASFA application. It should take about 30 minutes to complete. There will be college representatives to help with the applications. Remember that your senior will not be eligible for state and federal scholarships and grant money if this application is not completed. If you want to create your FASFA ID beforehand, go to studentaid.gov and follow the instructions, if not the ID can be created that night. Rattler Family, an Arkansas Tech University recruiter from Russellville met with a group of juniors and seniors on Monday. He explained programs of study, campus life, scholarship opportunities and the admission process. Several college recruiters, military recruiters and employers will visit the campus during the year to give our seniors several choices when making their post-secondary plans. Juniors and Seniors will have the opportunity throughout the year to visit college campuses and participate in industry tours. Rattler Family, Magazine Schools will recognize all of its active military members and veterans during our Military Night when our Rattler football team hosts the Mount Ida Lions at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Shorty Wright Field at Diamondback Stadium. Rattler Family, our seventh and eighth grade students recently spent the morning working on short response writing using the MS (Middle School) RACE (Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain) format. All four of our seventh and eighth grade core subject teachers taught parts of this lesson and worked with students in small groups. Rattler Family, MHS Cheer is inviting any K-6th grade student to come join them the week of Sept. 29 to practice a special routine they will perform at halftime of the junior high football game on Thursday, Oct. 2. The cost is $35. Registration fee and form are due by TODAY (Friday, Sept. 26). This will cover the elementary students' admission to the football game, a t-shirt to perform in, snacks after school and a week of instruction provided by senior high cheerleaders.
Practice Times are:
Monday, Sept. 29: after school - 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 30: after school - 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 1: after school - 4:30 p.m.
Practice will be located in the elementary safe room. Students will be walked to the safe room from the office after school.
Arrive at the game Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. and experience the full MHS Cheer experience: warm up, run through on the football field before the game, cheering during first and second quarter and performing at halftime. Elementary cheerleaders will be done after halftime and can choose to sit with parents for the remainder of the game or be checked out with an adult and leave.
