Rattler Family, Magazine Schools student Alex Hittner, who will be a seventh grader this coming school year, was recognized for setting the school record for Accelerated Reader (A.R.) points in a school year with 763.6 points during the 2024-25 school year during last night's regularly-scheduled meeting of the Magazine School Board of Education. AR points are earned through reading books throughout the school year and successfully completing a comprehension assessment over each book. Each book is assigned an AR point value based on its length and difficulty. Gipson, a former sports journalist and sports broadcaster and current Magazine Schools teacher. Gipson encouraged students to find the "why" in determining their career paths and to work hard and build relationships. He also emphasized the importance of hard work and how "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard".
