Rattler Family, It's Throwback Thursday! Today, we are going back some 40 years to 1982. Each of these young men could easily explain to you that 6+4+3=2. This group includes two current Magazine School employees, and their "manager" -- Wonder if he still has that sweet-looking jacket in the closet somewhere? -- was nicknamed "Hammer" back in his college playing days. So ... what group is this, and can you name any of them? Give your guesses (comments), like and share this post! #RattlerFamily #RattlerPride

Rattler Family, guess what day it is? You better believe it! It's Time Machine Tuesday when we go back in time to test your memory of alumni, moments and events from our school's history. Today, we go back to that awesome year of 1992 -- Do you believe that's been 30 years ago? -- when this young man was a MHS honor graduate and was voted Friendliest and Most Intellectual by his classmates. He would become a member of the Magazine School Board (not currently) and is a local business owner. Who is he? Make your guess (comment), like and share this post! #RattlerPride #RattlerFamily

Rattler Family, it’s Throwback Thursday, and today, we’re going all the way back to that glorious year of 1974. So, pop that Blue Swede 8-track into the player, crank up their No. 1 hit “Hooked on a Feeling”, tear open a bag of the new nacho cheese Doritos, pull the tab on an RC Cola and see if you can identify who this Rattler is. This little girl was one of 13 students in the morning kindergarten class, and I’m sure she probably loved books then as much as she does now. She would go on to become a valued member of the Magazine High School faculty, serving in a variety of roles. She continues to serve the students at Magazine High School and could probably write her own book about her experiences over the years. Who is she? Take a guess (comment) and like and share this post. #RattlerPride #RattlerFamily

Magazine High School is proud to announce that it was recently named a 2021-2022 National Beta School of Merit. The school earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades on their campus. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12. The National Beta School of Merit award is given to honor a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence. To achieve this prestigious honor, a school must include members from all eligible grade levels in their Beta club. This year, only 3,380 Beta Clubs across the country received this award. Magazine junior Trace Nicholas is rapidly rising in the political ranks this week during the 81st session of Arkansas Boys State, a summer leadership and civic engagement experience sponsored by the American Legion. After being elected to the city council of Partee City earlier this week, Nicholas was elected as a state representative for his congressional district on Tuesday. "Being elected as State Representative is quite the special opportunity for Trace and his fellow legislators," said David Saterfield, director of instruction for Arkansas Boys State. "He'll get an up-close and personal look at the legislative process with his own state legislators leading him through the process." On Wednesday, Nicholas will meet with Arkansas legislators to learn more about the legislative branch and process. As part of their meeting, Nicholas will join his fellow Arkansas Boys State senators and representatives in creating mock legislation that they will debate and vote upon at the state capitol on Friday. "I'm excited to see what ideas Trace and his fellow legislators bring to the House and Senate floors on Friday," Saterfield said. "I hope these Arkansas Boys State legislators take it all in when they're at the capitol. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." Nicholas, along with classmate James Haugh, is one of more than 400 students from throughout the state attending Arkansas Boys State at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Students are mock citizens in eight different counties and congressional districts, sixteen cities, and two political parties. Help us congratulate Trace by giving him a "thumbs up" (like) and sharing this post. #RattlerPride #RattlerFamily

Congratulations to Magazine junior Trace Nicholas on being elected to the city council of Partee City. Nicholas was elected by his peers during city elections on Monday (May 30) as part of the 81st annual session of Arkansas Boys State, where students build a mock government structure, including sixteen different mock cities each with their own city council, vice mayor, and mayor. "City elections lay the groundwork for the rest of the week at Arkansas Boys State," said David Saterfield, director of instruction for Arkansas Boys State. "From here, Trace will lead citizens in his city as they navigate simulations and city problems, working as their representative to develop and advocate solutions for their community this week. This is just the first step in the transformative leadership journey that students embark on this week." NIcholas, along with classmate James Haugh, is one of more than 400 students from throughout the state attending Arkansas Boys State at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
