There are many perks to being a part of "Reading Rattlers", and students can compete against each other in the "Reading Rattlers High-Point Challenge". In this year-long challenge, students earn points for the books they read, and at the end of the year, the student with the most points wins their choice of books (about $80 value), the runner-up also gets their choice of free books ($50 value), as does third-place ($30 value), fourth-place ($20 value) and fifth-place ($10 value). Rattler Family, Magazine High School recently restructured its daily student advisory period format to better meet its students’ RTI (Response to Intervention) needs and add additional academic support to help those students needing to reach grade-level learning expectations. Today (Thursday, Nov. 3), we were honored to host representatives from Arkansas High School in Texarkana and Solution Tree on our campus. Representatives from Solution Tree modeled the RTI Scheduler System, an online program that we use to schedule students for their specific RTI sessions, and we were able to showcase our RTI advisory program at work in a classroom setting during our two advisory periods. We enjoyed having our colleagues on campus today and having the opportunity to show others the awesome faculty and staff we have and the great academic initiatives we have in place to enhance our students’ learning experience. Her students were writing opinion papers about their favorite playground, citing reasons and examples to support their claims. What a fun way to learn!
