Rattler Family, our elementary and high school students had the opportunity to be a part of an inspiring social and educational program today as the legendary Coach Verdu with Way Beyond Measure presented his anti-bullying and character development program -- T.H.I.N.K -- as part of our continued Red Ribbon Week celebration. Coach Verdu's message encourages students to ask themselves five questions: T - Is it TRUE? H - Is it HELPFUL? I - Is it INSPIRING? N - Is it NECESSARY? and K -- Is it KIND? Rattler Family, our Magazine FBLA chapter attended the 2023 District 1 Fall Conference at Greenwood High School today (Wednesday, Oct. 25). Tempiest Dickens, District 1 Treasurer, took part in the conference, and our local chapter officers were recognized on stage. The keynote speaker was Dave Pittman, an Arkansas resident who was a contestant on season 9 of American Idol. He spoke about having Tourette’s Syndrome and still being able to succeed in the music industry. Rattler Family, at Magazine Schools, we strive each day to prepare our students for life after graduation. Magazine High School in cooperation with ASLA College Planning Services and ADHE presented the first of two student financial aid sessions that help inform parents and students of the financial aid that is available for college and trade schools and assist them with the application processes last night (Tuesday, Oct. 24) in the high school media center. These sessions cover federal and state aid programs, how to apply and other quick tips for your junior and senior students. Our next session will be Monday, Nov. 13, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the high school media center. Rattler Family, we are proud to announce that we will honor our veterans during our annual Magazine Elementary School Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 2:30 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. Our celebration will include patriotic musical performances by our third- and fourth-grade classes under the direction of MES music teacher Clayton Hughes. Veterans, parents and grandparents are welcome to attend this celebration. All guests, though, must have a valid ID and check in at the MES Office.
