Rattler Family, our Magazine's Got Talent talent show was a huge success this past Friday with 25 students competing at the elementary school and 10 competing at the high school. These events also allowed us to raise enough money to send our high school students who have been participating in the after-school Theatre Dance Program to the Arkansas High School Dance Festival in January! The winners of the first-ever Magazine’s Got Talent are as follows: Trinidy Harding (first place), Lillian Yang (second place) and Brock Gentry (third place). The People's Choice Award winner was Hallie Franklin. Rattler Family, senior Ethan Vasquez was awarded the 2023 Coach Robert "Papa" Dean Legacy Award Scholarship by Coach Dean's daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and David Mulligan, and granddaughter, Harper Mulligan, during tonight's Rattler Fall Sports Awards Banquet. The award and scholarship is given each fall to a senior student-athlete in the memory of Coach Dean, who started the Magazine volleyball program in the summer of 2022 and coached the Lady Rattlers until unexpectedly passing away last November. As a Purple Star Designated School District, both campuses recently participated in the "Holiday Cards 4 Our Military" Challenge. The goal of the HCMC is to provide holiday cards for as many active-duty military service members as possible. Rattler Family, elementary student Isaac Staton was recognized for high achievement in typing by www.typing.com, a typing program aligned with federal and state standards that helps students to learn to type faster and prepare for standardized tests. He passed the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and has advanced to tech readiness, which teaches about the parts of a computer and a computer works.
