Rattler Family, the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has announced that a total of $6,999,874 will be awarded to 174 schools through the Arkansas School Recognition Program. We are pleased to announce that Magazine High School is among those schools selected and will receive more than $10,000 in award money for high student performance and academic growth. Awards are based on student assessment results from the 2023-2024 school year and graduation rates from the 2022-2023 school year. The Arkansas School Recognition Program provides financial awards to the Top 10 percent of public schools that achieve high student performance on the state-required assessments in grades 3 through 10 and the top 10 percent of public schools that achieve high student academic growth, including high school graduation rates where applicable. Rattler Family, Valentine's Day is coming up, and our Lady Rattler volleyball program will be hosting a "Parents Night Out" from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, at Magazine High School's old gym. This is an opportunity for parents of children ages 3 and up to drop their children off for a evening of games, pizza and crafts and enjoy a special evening of their own. Cost will be $10 per child. Rattler Family, our school district nurse will begin BMI and Scoliosis screenings beginning on Feb. 4. A letter explaining the procedures and process will be sent home with students this week. BMI screenings will be for ALL students in kindergarten, second grade, fourth grade, sixth grade, eighth grade and 10th grade. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The school performance will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 10:15 a.m. for high school students and 1:30 p.m. for elementary students.
