During the March school board meeting Dr. Shumate presented Lyndol Green and Rachael Mora with the Superintendent Award. The Superintendent Award is to recognize individuals for specific acts that are spontaneous, go above and beyond what is regularly expected, and show initiative and commitment to make the Magazine School District better place. Both Ms. Mora and Mr. Green were attending a home basketball game as parents when a player became sick on the court. Both sprang into action voluntarily cleaning up the basketball court in front of players and fans before the administration could get to it. Dr. Shumate expressed her appreciation for their dedication, quick action, and willingness to go far beyond what is expected so everyone could see what it really means to be a Magazine Rattler.
