Rattler Family, our very own Chef James Phelps finished the K-12 Culinary Connection's Student Chef Showdown as one of the elite student chefs in the state. As the only student chef from the northern half of the state to qualify for the state competition, Phelps finished fifth out of the 90 student chefs. He scored an impressive 45/50, which surpassed the winning score from last year's competition (40/50). We are proud of Chef Phelps. Rattler Family, it's been a record-setting spring so far for our junior high and senior high track and field competitors with two junior high student-athletes and one senior high student-athlete setting school records in their events. Earlier this spring, junior Jailynn Sims set the senior high school record in the discus with a heave of 106 feet, 3 inches during the Bearcat Relays at Booneville on March 11. Yesterday, (April 11), freshman Daniel Green set the junior high school record in the pole vault with a leap of 10 feet, 9 inches, and freshman Cecilia Mora set the junior high school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18 seconds during the Junior Bearcat Relays in Booneville.
