Rattler Family, who doesn't enjoy a Homecoming Dance? Magazine High School's Senior Class will be hosting a Basketball Homecoming Dance on Friday (Feb. 7) following the basketball games at Diamondback Arena. The dance is for students in grades 7-12, and cost is $5 per person. Students may bring one guest. If the guest is not a student at Magazine or is older than 20 years old, they must sign up in the high school office before the end of the day on Wednesday (Feb. 5) and have principal's approval. Dress is casual and school appropriate with sock feet dancing only (no shoes on the court). There will be limited concessions. Rattler Family, Magazine High School will host its K-12 Culinary Connection Student Chef Showdown today (Friday, Jan. 31) at 3 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Defending champion James Phelps will face off against Gracelyn Jones in this year's competition. Each contestant will have one hour to create their favorite dish with a three-judge panel deciding who's dish is the best and who deserves the title of MHS/K-12 Culinary Connection Student Chef. Rattler Family, Magazine Schools is pleased to announce that senior McKenzie Morris has been awarded a $6,000 scholarship as a winner in the Thea Foundation’s 2024/2025 scholarship competition. Inspired by the theme “Fluidity,” 300 students from across Arkansas applied for a chance at part of the $219,000 worth of scholarships. Morris was one of 10 Arkansas seniors to receive scholarship awards in the visual arts category and one of 36 seniors overall to receive scholarship money in one of the five categories of visual arts, performing arts, creative writing, film and fashion.The annual competitions are for Arkansas graduating high school seniors, and remain a key resource for helping young people across the state receive financial support for higher education. Each of the five arts-based competitions provide Arkansas seniors with an opportunity to secure funding for college based on their talent alone. The organization’s first scholarship was awarded in 2002. The program is endowed and has awarded more than $3.3 million in scholarships to Arkansas students since its inception. As an added bonus, Morris, who will attend Arkansas Tech this fall, will have your scholarship matched by Arkansas Tech at $4,000 for four years.
