Rattler Family, this week, Charla Hammonds, the Logan County Extension Agent with the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, presented the "Get Real, Here's the Deal" simulation to Ms. Davis' eighth-grade Career Development class this week. During the presentation, students learned about banking, writing checks and managing a budget. As part of the presentation, students participated in a real-world scenario where they randomly drew family size, careers, salaries, etc., and were given a set amount of money based on that to budget/spend on necessities like housing, food, utilities, transportation, insurance, etc.

Rattler Family, two students from our high school Educators Rising, Krisi Easley and Haylee Francis, along with their teacher, Ms. Davis, attended the Educator's Rising District Conference at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville yesterday (Tuesday, Nov. 15). During the conference, the students learned about the education program at Tech, what financial aid opportunities are available, how to succeed in college and about the Student Support Services for Teacher Prep at Tech. They also toured the campus and listened to a keynote address Capri Bell Salaam, the 2023 Arkansas Teacher of the Year. Salaam encouraged the students to be authentic in the classroom, to be lifelong learners and to practice self-care. Rattler Family, you have always been so generous when it comes to helping our students, and we'd like to invite you to help us, the Logan County Sheriff's Office Deputy Association and Magazine Police Department make Christmas so much brighter for some of our students by contributing to the annual Shop With a Cop program. All donations collected will allow us to help students enrolled at Magazine Schools during Christmas. On Dec. 17 at 10 a.m., students will partner with a police officer at the Booneville Walmart to pick out gifts for themselves and their families.
