Rattler Family, our senior high cheerleaders will be hosting "Princess For a Day" for elementary students on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Magazine Schools Safe Room. Cost is $15 and includes a manicure, make-up and tea party (pink or regular lemonade). Manicures and make-up will be by the cheerleaders. Rattler Family, Magazine Schools would like to thank the Logan County Sheriff's Association for their $850 grant to help support our upcoming Red Ribbon Rally on Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the high school football field. The grant proposal was written by Elementary School Counselor Shanna Moore.
At the rally, we will have contests, music, a health fair and a vaping education presentation for parents, and the Sheriff's Department deputies will have a drunk driving prevention booth. All activities are free. Rattler Family, Magazine Beta Club took six junior high members and nine senior high members to a leadership summit at the Hot Springs Convention Center on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 3-4). Besides participating in motivational leadership sessions, each group competed in two different events. Junior high ( 8th graders Kauree Bennett, Abby Crandall, Alan Downs, Daniel Green, and Kasha Sewell, and 7th grader Everlee Chappell) qualified for nationals in both Collaboration Connection and Lead Outside the Box with excellent marks across the board. Senior high (juniors Rylan Matthews and Bryce Brimble and freshmen Dessi Carolan, Ainslee Chappell, Presley Crosby, Phoebe Hopper, Michael Stanley, Mattie Terry, and Carissa Webster) also qualified for nationals in the same events. Rattler Family, our Rattler Marching Band competed in the prestigious Dale Bumpers Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 1) at Charleston High School and won first place in Class 2A. The band received a 2nd Division rating overall and a 1st Division rating in drum major, color guard and percussion.
