Rattler Family, Danielle Kimes is the winner of our first Staff Hydration Challenge! Thirty-six staff members committed to drinking 64 ounces of water per day for the 25 days leading up to our Blue and You Challenge, which lasts until May and encourages water drinking, daily exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. We had 15 staff members that completed 23 out of 25 days. Danielle was our lucky winner! Rattler Family, Dr. Curtis Varnell and Amber Cobb from the Guy Fenter Education Service Cooperative visited Magazine Elementary and did a fun presentation to both first-grade classes about reading and science on Tuesday (March 7). Students enjoyed listening and participating by reading the ABC storybook by Dr. Seuss with Amber Cobb. Then, they learned all about sound waves with Curtis Varnell. Rattler Family, our Rattler Band competed at Solo and Ensemble in Charleston this past Saturday (March 4). Winning First Division Superior was Brock Gentry, Trinidy Harding, Briare Harding, Aiden Schmitt and Madison Kilgore. Winning Second Division Excellent was Jaedyn Wiggers and Cadence Lovelace. These students were honored and received medals for their achievement at the Magazine Band and Choir Concert on Monday (March 6).

Rattler Family, the Lady Rattlers softball team braved the wind and much cooler temperatures this afternoon (Friday, March 3) for its season opener at Scranton. The Lady Rattlers battled the entire way before dropping an 8-4 decision to the Lady Rockets. Junior Kenzie Robinson led the Lady Rattlers (0-1), going 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while freshman Mattie Terry (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs -- only two earned -- on seven hits with three walks and nine strikeouts. Magazine's games against Greenwood junior varsity and Van Buren Junior Varsity at Van Buren tomorrow at Van Buren have been cancelled. #RattlerPride #RattlerFamily

Rattler Family, our fifth-grade quiz bowl team competed in the Guy Fenter Educational Services Cooperative Tournament on Wednesday (March 1). The team represented Magazine Elementary well with their conduct and sportsmanship.
